k-ID Announces Partnership with Windup Minds and the Launch of its First Game in Mixed Reality on Meta Quest
k-ID streamlines parental consent to deliver age-appropriate experiences in Windup Minds' first game, “Stay: Forever Home”
SINGAPORE, March 06, 2025—k-ID, enabling compliant, age-appropriate online experiences for youth everywhere, and Windup Minds, a company pushing the boundaries of AI to craft unique and engaging experiences in mixed reality, today announced a strategic partnership to protect and empower kids in Windup Minds’ first game, Stay: Forever Home, coming to Meta Quest in April of this year.
Stay: Forever Home is a compelling new world where virtual pets enrich lives and foster genuine connections. Built into the game, k-ID’s solution delivers a streamlined parental consent flow for young players. It automatically enables in-game features based on different age-specific safety and privacy laws in more than 200 markets around the world.
The k-ID multifactor solution in Stay: Forever Home includes an age gate and Parent Verification, providing a certified system for obtaining and managing consent that meets global regulatory requirements. It also allows parents to tailor in-game features to be age-appropriate based on specific regulations of the player’s local market.
In addition, parents can access k-ID’s Universal Family Portal, a convenient, one-stop solution for managing their children’s online experiences in-game. Through the Universal Family Portal, parents can turn on or off permissions for select social features, including Discord chat access and push notifications in Stay: Forever Home, giving parents control of their child’s online interactions.
"We are thrilled to support the breathtaking VR experience in Stay: Forever Home—a vibrant, immersive world designed to lift spirits,” said Kieran Donovan, CEO and co-founder of k-ID. “At our core, we’re driven by a mission to deliver empowering, safe experiences that resonate deeply with kids, teens, and everyone. What I love most about spending time with Ember is that each moment is a celebration of joy, creativity, and connection.”

Stay: Forever Home is a new mixed reality game for all ages featuring a groundbreaking virtual companion, Ember. The game brings Ember into the player’s home, where the pet’s responsiveness and nuanced interactions evolve through consistent engagement, deepening the emotional connection and enriching the player's experience. Players can care for Ember at home in mixed reality, share activities, and explore her immersive world together in full virtual reality.
"By partnering with k-ID to integrate advanced age verification and safety features into Stay: Forever Home, we’re giving parents peace of mind while allowing children to build meaningful connections with Ember, their virtual companion," said Bernie Yee, CEO and Co-Founder of Windup Minds. "As players care for Ember and explore her enchanting world, they can do so safely and responsibly."
